event description

This group is for adolescents experiencing overwhelming, prolonged and frequent experiences of stress and anxiety. Anxiety is one of the most common mental health challenges for adolescents today, and can greatly impact overall well-being, as well as both academic and social behaviour. In this group, we apply empirically validated cognitive behavioural techniques, as well as strategies stemming from acceptance and commitment therapy, in order to help teens learn to untangle their anxious thoughts, and both manage and reduce their stress levels. We will be teaching concrete and accessible tools that participants will be able to practice across contexts and throughout time. This group consists of 8 sessions to be held on Sundays from April 7th to May 26th, where individuals will learn more about the mechanism of anxiety, and develop skills tied to cognitive restructuring, mindfulness practice, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, relaxation techniques, and graduated exposure.
