Although sport is often synonymous with physical health and well-being, a focus on weight, body shape, and healthy eating habits can contribute to an increased risk of developing an eating disorder. Many athletes with eating disorders go undiagnosed, viewing their symptoms as “normal” in the context of their sport. However the suffering and negative consequences of an eating disorder are very real for them both as a person, and as an athlete.
To address these issues, two new training workshops have been developed to educate and better equip dietitians working with individuals who may have eating disorders.
The online workshops will be led by sports nutritionist Alexia de Macar, and psychologist Jodie Richardson. Alexia and Jodie each have over a decade of experience in the field and have worked together for many years to help athletes of all levels overcome their eating disorders. Both workshops will be offered in French, and will take place online, on September 25-26, and October 23-34.
