Samara Yesovitch has a Master’s of Science-Applied in Couple and Family Therapy from McGill University, a Scientific Masters in Behavioural Psychology from Florida International University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Relations from Concordia University. Samara is a member of the order of Social Workers and Couple and Family Therapists of Quebec, and has a psychotherapist permit from the Order of Psychologists of Quebec.
Samara is the Local Wellness Advisor for McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management, where she works with students, staff, and faculty to enhance student wellness at the business school. She began her clinical career running group workshops for high school students. Committed to family work, Samara was a delegate for Batshaw Youth and Family Services and worked as a couple and family therapy intern on The Family Psychiatry Youth Team at the Jewish General Hospital.
Samara works with individuals, couples, and families to enhance family harmony through concepts like projective identification, the family life cycle, and primary and secondary emotions. Samara uses family systems theory, and psychodynamic theory. She borrows from Schema Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. She also utilizes psychoeducation. Ultimately, Samara engages with each member to decentralize issues so that no one person feels responsible for their family’s pain. Clients like Samara because she is observant, spontaneous, authentic, and enthusiastic. She has a talent for creating therapeutic alliances, in high-tension situations.
