Ege Biçaker, PhD

Dr. Ege Biçaker is a clinical psychologist and member of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec. Ege obtained her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from McGill University, where her thesis focused on the protective role of self-compassion in eating disorders. She completed her clinical training in a variety of settings, including the Youth Service at the Jewish General Hospital, Eating Disorders Program at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program and the Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorders Unit at the McGill University Health Center. 

During her clinical training, Ege has worked with populations ranging from youth to adults and is especially interested in working with adolescents and young adults. Her clinical interests involve working with individuals with eating disorders, body dissatisfaction, depression, perfectionism, low self-image, anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. Ege uses an integrative therapeutic approach to respond to the individual needs of each client. Her approach draws on a variety of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, as well as emotion-focused and mentalization-based approaches. Ege believes in the importance of providing a warm and non-judgmental therapeutic atmosphere to promote positive and meaningful change. She strives to help her clients gain insight regarding their difficulties and develop concrete tools to achieve their goals.

In her free time, Ege enjoys taking walks by the canal,  discovering new restaurants, and spending time with her loved ones.
