Lisa Astrologo

Therapist, PhD Candidate

Lisa is a PhD candidate at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. She completed her clinical residency at the Nova Scotia Health Authority in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In addition to her residency experience, Lisa has completed trainings in second and third wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and Process-Oriented approaches at the McGill University Hospital Centre, the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, and the Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services. Her research interests focus on examining the relationship between environmental influences on behaviour.

Lisa uses a collaborative, curious, and non-judgmental approach to help individuals navigate a wide range of psychological difficulties. She has worked with older adolescents and adults presenting with symptoms of depression, anxiety, difficulties in emotion regulation and interpersonal relationships, dissociation, complex trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, disordered eating, peri/post-natal distress, and somatic symptom disorder. Lisa tailors her clinical interventions to each person’s unique needs, narratives, and personal goals for therapy. She helps individuals become aware of the interconnectedness between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. In therapy, Lisa’s main goal is to empower the people she works with to foster a sense of self-awareness, a repertoire of tools for coping, and confidence in their ability to navigate their emotional experiences all while respecting personal values and beliefs.

Outside of her clinical work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her dog, reading, and cooking for her friends and family. She finds joy being in nature, enjoying a good cup of coffee, and listening to music.
