Dr. Amber Labow is a clinical psychologist and member of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec. She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at Laval University, where her graduate research explored the impact of social support on the onset of psychopathology in patients with traumatic brain injuries. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from McGill University and a Master of Science degree in Psychology from University of Montreal.
Amber completed her clinical training at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute in the Psychotic Disorders Program and in the Eating Disorders Program. She developed an expertise in the treatment of eating disorders and psychotic disorders and their comorbid problems including anxiety, mood, and personality disorders. In addition, her training at the Service de Consultation de l’École de Psychologie de l’Université Laval provided important experience in the field of health psychology and with a range of presenting problems such as trauma, interpersonal difficulties, sleep disturbances, and struggles with self esteem. Amber has a strong foundation in cognitive behavioural therapy, however uses a client-centered approach, drawing from various treatment modalities, which are tailored to the needs of clients. With the aim of fostering a strong therapeutic alliance, Amber emphasizes a collaborative approach towards identifying goals of therapy. Her treatment style strives for a deep understanding of clients in order to promote self-reflection, develop insight, and improve quality of life.
Outside of work, Amber enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She especially loves to travel, giving her the opportunity to explore new cultures and cuisines.
