Aiden Mehak

Therapist, PhD Graduate in Clinical Psychology
Language of practice: English

Aiden Mehak (they/them/iel) is a recent graduate in Clinical Psychology at McGill University who is currently awaiting membership from the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ). Aiden completed their doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at McGill University and their predoctoral residency at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, where they received advanced training in the assessment and treatment of a variety of mental health difficulties, including trauma, substance use and concurrent disorders, and psychosis. Their clinical experience spans community, hospital, and outpatient mental health settings.

Aiden provides evidence-based psychotherapy to older adolescents (16+) and adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns. They have experience helping individuals with anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, substance use disorders, as well as body image concerns and eating disorders. Aiden is particularly passionate about providing 2SLGBTQIA+-affirming care, including support for body image and eating concerns within gender-affirming contexts

Aiden’s therapeutic approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs, goals, and lived experiences. They primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), integrating techniques from other evidence-based approaches when appropriate. Their practice is grounded in an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed framework that considers each person’s relationships, identities, communities, and broader social context.

Outside of work, Aiden enjoys powerlifting, crossword puzzles, spending time with their friends and their cat Poe.
