Dr. Maggie Harris is a clinical psychologist and member of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec. Maggie received her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University in New York. She has worked in college counseling centers, community clinics, and inpatient and outpatient hospital settings. She completed her internship at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center and her fellowship at Zucker Hillside Hospital’s Geriatric Clinic.
Maggie enjoys working with older adolescents (18+) and adults of all ages in individual psychotherapy. She works with people struggling with depression, anxiety, emotion regulation, major life transitions, grief, loneliness, identity, and relationship issues, as well as trauma, such as abuse and neglect. She believes that some people feel a need for support and direction in managing the many challenges of their lives and responsibilities, particularly those who do not fit neatly into the prescribed roles of their families or cultures.
Maggie’s main goal in her work is to develop a trusting and genuine relationship. She aims to provide a safe, supportive space in which you feel seen and heard, so that you can collaborate on your healing. She works primarily from a psychodynamic and relational perspective, where she believes that our early relationships shape the way we move through the world, perceive others, and understand ourselves. Whether you are coming to therapy with a specific goal in mind, or whether you feel stuck in some way, Maggie is confident that you can work together to better understand and ease your difficulties. Maggie has also received training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R).
Outside of work, Maggie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and traveling to new places.
