Therapist, PhD student

Andrea Sandstrom is a doctoral student in clinical psychology at Concordia University and a trainee clinician at Connecte Montreal Psychology Group. Andrea received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western University and completed a Master’s in Psychiatry Research from Dalhousie University. Her research is focused on the role of maladaptive beliefs in the development and maintenance of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and related anxiety disorders.

Through her clinical and research work, she has gained experience with treating anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem, and stress related to interpersonal relations and work/school. Her treatment approach is primarily grounded in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), integrating elements of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to best suit her clients’ goals and preferences. She works to create a strong therapeutic alliance within a safe, collaborative, and non-judgemental environment.

Outside of her work, Andrea enjoys biking, reading, spending time with friends, and exploring new restaurants and cafes in Montreal.
